AT Suggestion: Why don't we privatize the the forums, or at least the Off Topic Forum?

If you haven't, you either haven't been paying attention, or you haven't been around for long enough.

Once, when dinosaurs walked the earth, OT was a really nice place where you could have discussions about almost anything, including religion and such, and not have it turn into flamewars, or having people writing posts that only contain "PC+1", "In Russia...." etc etc.

Are you kidding me? Every touchy subject that has been discussed in ATOT has almost ALWAYS turned into a flame war in the end. Search the archives, you'll see. And oh, wait, I forgot that we had "OH I EEOOEO NOOOO!!!!!!!!!!" (sorry for the misinterpretation) and "... is suck" in our days

No, that's what Im talking about, and it hasn't always been that way.

OT is the primary reason that i come here. If it weren't for OT, i would never have subscribed. Hot deals, peripherals, General Hardware, and all the other forums are just icing on the cake for me. I have yet to make a sale in FS/T and therefore, i have no heatware, but hopefully a user may have recalled a post of mine or knows that i'm an active member of the OT community here enough to have faith in my purchase/sale.

The same with me, although I am a regular user of all the forums.

For everyone else: I'm not saying that we should axe the OT forum, and make it subscriber only. just make it so that you have to be logged into your account to have access to it. With nearly twice as many visitors as members viewing the forums, it would really cut down bandwidth usage.

Have you even looked at the stats shown above (and previously mentioned in this thread)?

Off Topic: There are currently 184 logged in users, and 55 guests browsing this category, making a total of 239.
Hot Deals: There are currently 205 logged in users, and 680 guests browsing this category, making a total of 885.

The numbers speak for themselves.

maybe make hot deals read only for logged in members? i can see where that would get more browsing than anywhere else (deal hunters and all). i dunno.

I arrived here because of the general hardware forum - but Now i almost exclusively post in OT.
