Thank you!
(Not shown are all the photos that were bad lol)

TBH, I consider myself lucky if I get a one out of ten keeper ratio. The others have to go through another cycle of lucky charms washing them through post process and even then maybe only a couple of 'um will pass muster. I'm that bad at setting up and composing a shot I'd be pleased with after viewing it on a monitor at home. I really suck at it.

I think social media distorts the reality.

At least one professional photographer i follow made a video on how some days, he doesnt get any photos he considers up to par. I felt a lot better knowing that even pros have tough days too

I have to remind myself that some of my condor photo duds would have been Nat Geo material in the 60s and 70s and I’m just an amateur. The bar for good nature photos is so much higher now. I also have to remind myself that any photo of a condor is a miracle of a human passion to try to fix at least one thing we f’ed up.

You're right - I basically don't post when I don't feel like I have anything "good", but there are many shots I've taken since my last post. I'm pretty sure I shot 40-50,000 shots over the years with about 11,000 kept and 85 images with 5 stars. Lacking context, nobody on here would even look at them twice, let alone rate them 5 star, hahah.

Was taking surf pics of my son that came in from his home in Utah and looked around me for interesting pics to take between wave sets when this bee buzzed around me and started in on these strange looking flowers, so challenge accepted, spent about 20-25 clicks on it and this is the only rando shot that barely made the cut. Such is the life of the hobbyist shutterbug.

We've been feeding a few Brazilian cardinals (right) for over 8 years, some being mated pairs that produced three clutches a season with 2-3 chicks per, and then a Northerner showed up at the same feeding and I was lucky enough to capture this first time ever moment for me. Light overhead cloud cover allowed me to acquire a mostly neutral lighting scenario, although some shadow/highlight effect was used.

Passion flower

Edit: that looks like Passiflora foetida, an exotic introduced to Hawaii from the southwest. If you have a chance, inspect the plant or your photos of the plant for dead insects. This particular passion flower is carnivorous.
