AT PSU MODS... HELP!!

I am adding accent lighting to my bar, and I remembered that I have some AT PSUs lying around. Anyone know how to mod these to power on without a motherboard.

you sure its an AT PSU? cus an AT psu doesnt go through the mobo for power switching, the switch goes directly to the psu.

unless i'm retarded all of a sudden (well maybe not all of a sudden....)
 
BBWF is correct, AT supplies dont use the MB for power activation, Thats why they are a god choice for running duel supply in larger towers if the ATX has a monitor out plug on its backside, When the ATX powers up it also turns on the AT.
 
You are right Bing, AT power supplies do not not require a mobo to start up. Pop the power switch and off they go. You can teall the difference by looking at how power is supplied to the mobo. ATX has twenty pins in two rows of ten pins contained on one plug. AT has 12 pins on one row. The connector can be either two six pin (Anyone else remember the black touches black rule? 🙂) connectors or one twelve pin connector.

Yup, my A+ certification course told me all about how to build computers that I will never actually build. =)
 
Actually, many probably do require a motherboard as a power draw. The ONLY mod is a load resistor, and one may be required for an AT PSU also (If there isn't enough power draw, it won't begin supplying the power to the rest of the system). A+ certified here too, and that is what A+ tells you.
