My parents knew this one friend for a long time and she needed money and she asked my parents to help out and they did. She needed a large amount of money and my parents helped her out because they were freinds and my parents are generious. She told my parents that she would pay them back in a year but she hasnt. We have her email and phone number but she never returns our calls back. Is there anything we can do? Should we hire a lawyer and contact police? Please Help. Thanks

Do you have hard proof? Anything in writing? If not, I'm guessing you guys are SOL...

I would suggest trying to reach her in person @ her house or something and see if something is wrong.

You can also try calling her from some other phone nbr (in case she recognizes your nbr).

You'd need some kind of proof of the loan to have a case I think. You know what they say a about verbal contracts and the paper they're written on...

Best thing to do would be to keep trying to contact her. Go to her house if you know where she lives.

I know many people that are "generous" enough to give money to a flaky friend in need, but most of them are smart enough to realize that they'll never get their money back, and if they do, it was just an unexpected bonus.

There's this saying: "If you loan your friend $20 and you never see him again, it was probably worth it."
