You'll be lucky to find one after the $19.99 (AR) sale on these drives this week. Call in first before you get your hopes up.

Nice Find!

I was going to get a 32x cendyne, but for $10, 24x should be just fine for me.

That is a really nice deal on a burner.

Only if you are lucky to find a store where those OM employees don't clean them out the day before the sale. I hate those bastards.

There's a 15 dollar off 50 dollar purchase Office Depot coupon floating around. It expires at the end of august. You can find it at Fat Wallet. That would make this deal quite amazing if you could get your hands on one of these drives.

Here is what I posted in another post earlier today:

------------------
I got a 24X Polaroid CD-RW on Sunday at a local OfficeMax. I had really low expectations since it was a BTC Top Glory unit. I was pleasantly surprized.

I had no problems with its installation. Windows XP and Nero 5.5 recognized it immediately. I burnt a data and a music CD at 24X on Verbatim 32X media with no problems. Burn-proof feature successfully kicked in 5 times on the music CD since I was really pushing it by opening other apps and playing with the other CD drive while this one was recording.

And I love the price too: $60 price - $10 coupon off $50 - $40 MIR = $10.
------------------

I must add that when I got to the store about an hour after opening last Sunday, they had only 4 units. All of them were behind the counter on hold for customers (including one for me). The advertized price this week here is $19.99 after the $40 MIR. So, if you hope to get one cheaper this coming Sunday, you might want to buy it now to return and buy it back later.

chynkboi - I didn't inquire, since all four stores I visited were out of burners. Since the ad states "A $39.99 Value! ", my interpretation would be that the CD player is $39.99 with a $39.99 mail-in rebate, but there's nothing listed in the Office Max mail-in rebate directory they provide for their in-store rebates.

FYI, someone on Fat Wallet stated the CD-player was bulky, and in general, ugly - I personally didn't look at one of the players.

Johnbear007 - the Cendyne 24/10/40 would be a good deal, as I believe it is a Lite-On mechanism (recalling this from memory). Search the past deals for Office Max and the four burners that are listed, and you should find a answer. There are also links to several sites that have rated the various 12/10/40 drives, which should include information on the formats they support (CloneCD requires the drive burn in RAW mode).

I bought the IOMagic 24x burner on Sunday for $19.99 after rebate. It works well, but I was a little disappointed that it had trouble with 99 minute CDs with Nero...The $29.99 burner from Samsung at COMPUsa worked fine with 99 minute CDR's. Both Nero and Windows XP recognized it and it worked straight-away.

Great deal, all around. I believe that the Polaroid and IoMagic CD-ROMS are from the same manufacturer so avoid both if you plan to use 99 minute CD's, otherwise they work great.

There were 8 of them at the OF in Denver, and I bought mine late in the afternoon...

well i dunno if i lucked out or got lucky my cendyne cd writer i got was just TEAC straight out of the box... I was surprised to see that TEAC manufactured my drive. I read the reviews on cdrinfo.com seems like a decent deal. I just flashed the firmware to the newest one and it was manufactured Decenber 2001. Pretty much the break down is like 69.99-10.00 instant - 10 off 50 dollar purchase - 40 dollar rebate + TAX = $13.54. You might wanna consider it lucky if they take the 10 off 50 cuz it's not suppose to be used on electronics...

kmmatney => where do you get your 99 min cdrs?

Hi-VAl 24x == Aopen 24x
Cendyne 24X = Aopen 24x
I/O Magic 24X == ??? don't know
Poralod 24x = BTC 24x

I keep BTC, since I'm still using EZ CD 4.05 and BTC and Lite-on 24x are the fast burner for EZ CD 4.05.

All Hi-Vals are AOpen?
I noticed it has 2 buttons for play and reject on the picture of the box.
I hate Aopen 24 drive, it was the loudest drive I've used.
Got rid of it in 2 days.

My local OM still have them 19.99 AMR. But if it's Aopen, no thanks even if I have 10 off 50 OM coupon.
