lol stupid people.

I wish fireworks were legal here, they can be a lot of fun if used responsibly. Too bad stupid people have to ruin it for everyone.
lol they're illegal?

That's crazy, Canada is so cold that you don't even risk to burn anything at least on new year's.

must have been a defective mortar, normally the tube has a charge big enough to launch the projectile up a couple hundred feet, evidently his stayed in the tube and exploded.

Uhh, were you the guy's best friend that suggested this to him? lol

What caused the death?
I only see a few scenarios.

1. Launch of mortar had enough punch to give him a massive concussion or crack his skull. Unlikely as I have held mortar tubes in hand and the kick is not very large.
2. Launch of mortar pushed his head down, resulting in a failed launch of the mortar and the mortar exploded inside the tube or just above the tube.

Edit: Oh. It exploded on his head.
"There was no rushing him to the hospital. There was no Devon left when I got there," said 25-year-old Cody Staples, who called it an accident.

Sky rockets in flight
Afternoon delight...

Oops, projectile dysfunction. 🙁
At least he went out with a bang.

Dumbass. I think a football player damaged his hand and killed a nerve using fireworks on the 4th.

"Devon was not the kind of person who would do something stupid. He was the kind of person who would pretend to do something stupid to make people laugh," he said.

Ok. 🙄
