Interesting that they use solid fuel for small payloads.... cheaper than liquid fuels, and probably still safer, despite events like this.

India has had a space program since the late '70... they are a good commercial venture for telcos, and make for nice ICBM testing... why does anyone think China wants to get in the action so suddenly?

Man, I think some regulatory agency will soon have to be put up by international consensus... there's simply too much orbital junk cluttering the near-space. NASA said last year they are constanly surveying 40.000 objects in orbit, and that IS A LOT... especially considering we'vew ony entered the space age in 1957, it hasn't even been 50 years yet!
