The History of this Situation:
After world war II the UN wanted to give the displaced Jew's of Europe a home. So the UN decided to make the nation of Israel in a place called Palestine. The UN basically told all of the Palestinians to leave and make room for the Jew's and the new nation of Israel. Thus the root of the anger with the Palestinians and why they want the Jew's off of "their" land b/c basically the UN stole the land from them and gave it to the Jew's.
All of this turmoil and bloodshed is a result of the moronic UN meddling in affairs they know nothing about. It could also be said that all of the terrorist threats on the US, including 9/11, are a result of the UN's decision to make the nation of Israel. All of the Arab countries hate the US, but especially b/c we are the main backer of Israel. I'll be the first to admit what happened to the Jew's was the worst attrocity in recent human history but displacing another peoples to give them a home? Not the right solution. I also think the way the Palestinians target civilians is pathetic. However, I am not on the side of the Israelis but don't condon what the Palestinians do. But I understand where they are coming from and they really have no ways of getting their land back.
In summary: It's an impossible situation with no real solution. The bloodshed will continue forever, I fear.
Mallow, you are completely wrong. You show that you have no knowledge of the history of the region at all. It's no wonder the conclusions you draw are also incorrect. Please do a little research on the region.
Start with the Balfour Declaration and see what year it was published. Continue on through the 1920 Jerusalem riots. Though in the White Paper and yes you are correct understand what happend in WWII. Read a little about the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem during WWII. And as Dari indicated earlier though in the fact that the Ottoman empire backed the wrong side and lost. Spend a little while researching the history of the country of Palestine(good luck) and then read up on Black September. When you have done that please come back and tell us if any of your conclusions have changed.
Even the terrorist Arafat has told bin Laden he doesn't want him to use the Palestinians as an excuse for his terrorism.
edit/ I will agree that as long as the other Arab countries continue to use the Palestinians as pawns in their fight against the Jews that there will be no solution to the problem.
