Colonization was a 90's game, but it kicked ass. It was one of my first PC Games; obviously it was toned down for peeps my age, but it was really cool, even if it was pixelated as hell. I had no idea how the turn based system worked, or anything of that nature, but now that I see they're making an overhauled Civ4-engine remake, I jumped up and down in excitement.

I don't think it's just graphics update, but its inspired from the same game, and it looks kickass.

Oh no, yet another Civilization IV expansion that'll no doubt take more precious hours of my life away!

That said, any idea when the ETA on this new expansion? 😉

It's a standalone game, expected around September, '08.

badass man, good find, i enjoyed this game ~15 years ago as well 🙂

Yeah, I did too, it was confusing, but I really liked the whole premise of the game. I played AoE 3 and got a similar feeling, but that was more of a troop raising and fazing exercise, so it played out differently. I'm pretty excited for this though.

YES!

I think I wasted almost as much time in the 90s game Colonization as in Civ I/BG 1/2 and other classics. Boo's whiskers tingle in excitement 😉

I think what is interesting is that the Natives have received a major buffed in this new one, and the diplomacy will be improved.

But I think in terms of appeal, this game looks so amazing graphically speaking.

I sat down for some quality time with the latest PCGamer and was kinda surprised to see it had a review of this in it, didn't realize release was on us.

Not only that but it had the game in it. So, I got my 1st exposure to Col.
I'm really looking forward to this.

I think I'll be hittin up CC tomorrow.

I am thinking of picking this up.

But I wish Firaxis would make an RTS game.

Nah, there are enough RTS games out there, I love their turn based games, that's what they do best.

An ex Firaxis guy, Brian Reynolds, who was the designer of the original Colonization, Civilization II, and Alpha Centauri makes the Rise of Nations series.

I just want to be the English so I can right all the wrongs of the the Americans that revolted against us!!! oh... Im on an American forum.... nevermind!!!

Flashbacks of me maybe 8 or 9 playing Colonization, i loved it because despite being so close to Civilisation, it was so much different and yet equal to it.

I want to pick this up but I disliked Civ 4 and I feel like I am going to get burnt.

FYI, its on Steam now, 29.99.

Edit - I just got the Steam version, seem to be having a little trouble. The game downloads and runs fine, but Steam refuses to put a shortcut on the desktop or in the start menu. Slight annoyance that I can only launch it from the Steam app. Is this some sort of new aggravating DRM or what?

Its not on UK Steam yet (much like Assassins Creed)

There better be no nasty DRM stuff but I end up clicking the Steam Windows anyway so I wouldnt mind that kind of "hassle".
