Hmm, after seeing all these fantasy sports things, I am now getting interested (I love hockey!). What kind of time commitment is involved in one of these?

As little or as much as you want to put in. For the draft, you can leave the default player ordering and let the website select for you. You can also pre-select some of the players and let the website fill in the rest (based on the same default player order). Or you can create your own ordering based on some criterion you establish and draft the players that way.

Once the players are drafted, you can put as much or as little time as you want. It looks like we will draft 18 players. We can play 15 at one time so there won't be much ability to switch between players from week to week. For the most part, if one of your starting players is injured, benched or resting, you should switch them. Beyond that you can leave the same starting line-up from week to week.

On the other hand, you can spend quite a bit of time analyzing your opponent's team to see if you can gain advantages with selections because of NHL matchups or number of NHL games during the week.

I have never participated in this type of pool, but I am looking forward to it.

I don't think I can draft tonight. I will set up my order preference and hope I get some good players. Good luck to everyone else.!

Well that draft was a lot of fun. It was pretty intense and suspenseful. I think we should keep this thread going throughout the season.

Man. I'm burning to get the hockey season started. Can't we get the baseball players to strike to free up the TV stations and then start the hockey season a little early? :D

Hello all,

Remember each week is Monday to Sunday in the pool. This means that even though the season doesn't start until Wednesday, you will probably need to have your weekly picks in by Sunday evening. Good luck all and have fun :)

Thanks for this information! I thought we selected once for the week and did not choose again until the next week. Finally a reason to bench Blake for Aucoin....

He doesn't have a game and Adrian does :D
