Hmm, after seeing all these fantasy sports things, I am now getting interested (I love hockey!). What kind of time commitment is involved in one of these?
As little or as much as you want to put in. For the draft, you can leave the default player ordering and let the website select for you. You can also pre-select some of the players and let the website fill in the rest (based on the same default player order). Or you can create your own ordering based on some criterion you establish and draft the players that way.
Once the players are drafted, you can put as much or as little time as you want. It looks like we will draft 18 players. We can play 15 at one time so there won't be much ability to switch between players from week to week. For the most part, if one of your starting players is injured, benched or resting, you should switch them. Beyond that you can leave the same starting line-up from week to week.
On the other hand, you can spend quite a bit of time analyzing your opponent's team to see if you can gain advantages with selections because of NHL matchups or number of NHL games during the week.
I have never participated in this type of pool, but I am looking forward to it.
