Movin' on up! Anandtech is finally getting the recognition it deserves, saw this in the feb. 2003 issue where they had a paragraph about AT right next to the respectable tomshardware.com

Just thought I'd mention this to you all...

Don't worry, all the n00bs and pests usually stay confined to the Hot Deals forum :)

I agree with this statement...although from a monetary/sponsor standpoint *cough*Anand*cough*, the more hits the Anandtech pages get, the better. Think those banner ads at the top of your screen are there for nothing? ;)

I also agree w/what Grey said;
Thank God AOL is banned

I can't tell you the number of people I work with that have AOL dialup at home, running on some PII machine that doesn't even have an AGP slot or a CDRW drive and they like to converse with me about "new computer stuff."

I am more than happy to share my knowledge and try to educate people, but when they realize how expensive this "hobby" can be, they balk. "Um, my computer is fast enough for my wife's receipe files and my email, Mike, thanks though..."

Back on topic; it's nice to see Anandtech getting the recognition it deserves. This place has been a boon for me, both PC-related and otherwise. Why, if it weren't for OT, I'd be a madman by now...oh, wait.....:Q

my experience is more like..

I view Co-worker continously alternate between opening then shutting down two programs while looking for data. After a couple days of seeing this when I walk by, I stop and realize what she is doing.

"You know if you hit alt-tab at the same time you can change the windows back and forth."-I say
"Oh my! This will save me so much time! Thank you!"
I know not everyone is computer literate but I have taken to teaching people at my job the tricks of windows.

My mom is like that, she never runs moe than one program at a time. If I use the computer and have 15 things open, and then she wants to look up something on the internet, she'll close 14 windows and leave the one browser window open.

She knows she can open a bunch of stuff at once.... she just doesn't like to. Maybe she'll ahve two thing s open, but that's about it.
