My brother's Father-in-law died recently. He was a decorated Korean War Army Vet, and in general just one hell of a nice guy who could tell some good stories.

Anyhow, he had a decent spread up in Kentucky, and he owned a 2004 F150 4-Door FX4 with the 5.4L V8. The truck is in pretty much mint condition with something like 15k miles on it. My brother currently owns a few vehicles, one of which is a 2005 Titan 5.6L 4-Door, and around 50k miles IIRC. Both of these are fully paid off.

He has the opportunity to sell his Titan and take the F150, and I told him to jump on that. I like his Titan a lot, but they don't have a whole lot of high ratings from the CR/Magazine crowd, and they are losing value pretty quick. The fact that this will almost certainly be the final generation of Titan now that the Dodge deal appears to have collapsed just puts another nail in the coffin of predictable value for those things.

What does AT think? I'll put a poll for it above. Of particular interest would be comments from individuals with experience with the '04+ F-series, the 4X4, and/or the 5.4L V8.

Thanks!

No brainer. Go with the F-150, as it is a higher quality truck in every respect. My uncle has owned 2 (currently has an 06 with the 5.4L V8), and he loves them.

Another vote for the F-150. Just bought one of my kids a 2004. Historically they last forever when properly cared for.

Are you looking to adopt? If so, I'm available.

Why not. Get in line like the rest of them. :)
