AT Forums -> IE6 Crashes

zeroidea

Okay, this is really odd, and it just started happening today. My computer is running Windows XP, and when I go to the AT forums IE gives me an error message and crashes, either on the first or second page that I see. The computer is overclocked, so I clock it a little lower, and a little lower, and finally set it back to default Celeron2 533Mhz. No difference.

I open my HOSTS file and ad:
127.0.0.1 ad.doubleclick.net

IE isn't crashing anymore, but Anandtech probably isn't getting any revenue either.

That's very helpful, considering that IE5/5.5 aren't an option with WinXP, and the competition generally fail to be as good all-around, in speed and compatibility.

I have no desire to begin another better-browser discussion.

Probably (though this isn't helpful either) just a problem with doubleclick. I have a lot of problems with them at work, so I ran the "opt out."

mine was with problems too but i fixed it by firing the MESSENGER lol

there is a regedit to disable the messenger logon that sweetly solved all my ie6 crashes and stutters lol

hope this helps

Wolfsraider: Could you elaborate? By Messenger do you mean MSN Messenger, or the Messenger system service?

In other news,
I've paid my dues,
no more double-click blues,
or banner click throughs
or wanting to snooze
while reading the news.

I'm sorry, that was a bit much.
