but i have a question.

too many ppl here cannot be trusted on what they would link too.

once you have been here a bit longer, you will know exactly what i mean.

You might want to post that in Forum Issues, but I doubt you'd get an answer.
I assume the reason is because then there is no control over what image is displayed.
We are, afterall, a family-friendly forum. :p

this should be in forum issues, but it's because of pornographic and images embedded with trojans

The notion that the forums would be goatse'd is severely flawed. Those who did so would very quickly be banned, and how often do you see a rush of that happening on other large web forums anyways? Practically never.

My answer: No reason, just an antiquated idea being held on to and in the long run holding this forum back from growing like it should.

The hardware/software forums would be fine but Off-Topic/P&N would go insane with people posting all kinds of NSFW content.

NSFW is NSFAT.

Images were allowed, back in the old UBB days, and it didn't work. The place ran amuck, with far fewer members, than it has now.

It is another thing that the many immature (and code savy might I add) users here could abuse, but many other fourms get by, but it is also because it would kill the bandwidth of the host because of the traffic here especially in OT.

hey, if the member base is this big without allowing the posting of images or having custom avatars they would be stupid to change it now.

i always thought there were no inline images so that the threads were always worksafe (particularily with avatars turned off)

With decent forum software, you can turn off things like avatars, sigs, inline images, etc. It's really not a big deal.

I actually find it annoying on other forums. to no embedded pictures here. (Although a greater variety of avatars or maybe even custom avatars of the same size that the current avatars are wouldn't be bad. Too many frequent posters are beginning to have the same avatars. )

The only people that should have custom avatars are those with custom/elite titles IMO.

I must admit a greater variety of pre-selected avatars would be nice, though I would not change mine anyway. I was born a wildcat and I'll die a wildcat.

Dial-up :(

4-somethinged. Mainly because I get tired of the idiot that can't figure out how to scale down their 80 ka-jillion megapixel photos. And I even have a 1920x1200 desktop too....so larger photos generally don't bother me.
