Actually I'm working on a zip code search right now. I haven't released it yet for fear that the database might look a bit thin. After enough entries are entered, you will be able to search your zip code and choose the 30 closest zip codes in your area to look at too.

dude that would be sweeeeeet

I think it would behoove cell providers to make the phones with the best reception the cheapest. (Notice, I did not say phones with the most bells and whistles.) I don't know if it's my Sanyo 4900 or Sprint, but my reception just about always sucks.

I would but the DB is faulty. It only considers the outside.

Outside my front door, I get 4 bars. Step inside and it drops to 0-1. I'm dropping Sprint because of it. Verizon gets 3 bars in the entire house.

The DB is very subjective by nature. However it's the only way to get some idea how reception is. There is a comments section for people to talk about differences such as indoors vs. outdoors. Too many factors can come into play to affect reception. On an unrelated note, the reception database can also be accessed through http://www.cellreception.com. Plus it's easier to remember.

Hi everyone,

I am the webmaster for Mobiledia.com. I noticed a huge surge in the reception participation today so I checked my logs and was pleasently surprised to find this thread.

BornStar18: Great idea. I will add a section for phone type in the form.

Everyone else, thanks for all your help. It's heavily dependant on user participation. I started this not too long ago, and I'll be checking up on this thread for any suggestions to make it better, or complaints.

Allen

hey, since i started this thread, can i get a free Treo 600 for my efforts?

😀 😀

haha.. I would if I could. But unfortunately I have to sign NDAs and send the phones back after I review them. And I'm still waiting to get my hands on the Treo 600.
