[AT] Do M.2 SSDs Need Heatsinks?

http://www.anandtech.com/show/9856/angelbird-wings-px1-m2-adapter-review-do-ssds-need-heatsinks

Interesting results- you see some pretty big gains on the sustained loads! I wonder if you could get the same effect from some stick-on heatsinks?

Possibly, though the installation will probably have a lot to do with it. That adapter is really pretty close to an ideal location for the SSD. If you have the m.2 card tucked onto your motherboard between two GPUs, you might still need to give some thought to ducting airflow down to it even with heatsinks.

I have the 950 in a Asus Hyper adapter card under my 980 Ti and without the fan I put in running CystalMarks it would get into the 70C's but with this $15 bracket and Fractal Design 80mm fan blowing on the 950...stays around 43C...
