If you do not play on the server, please use the answer "I don't care." so the results are not skewed.

For question 1 - please ping the following IP's and vote for the one where you get the best ping:

Enter the line I have placed beside each location into a CMD line. This will send 10 requests to the server and report a minimum, maximum and average. Please post all three numbers (minimum, maximum, average) for each location if you don't mind. (Remember to take the quotation marks away)

Seattle, Washington... "ping -n 10 63.208.142.122"

rotation needs to be MUCH more than 3 maps, so it actually varies the maps.
 
Looks like the ping command will shut down the window as soon as it is done pinging 😉 so just watch it and take a guess at which is the best.

Devioustrap also mentioned Chicago is likely the best. Currently that is what I will most likely be choosing. Unless of course a lot of people get bad pings out of Chicago.

Mike, give me a sample map rotation which you would like.

I think the best way may just be to have a bunch of maps, but allow anyone to start a vote at any time. What od you think?

use Rockthevote. but after like 15-20 WINS have a map vote to change maps, that should take prolly 30-40 minutes

as for maps: all stock maps, they are popular.

ad a FEW, no more than like 3 custom maps: Kismayo, and 2 others, but i dont know 2 other GOOD ones.

typically custom maps dont get voted in that much. so it should be fine.

also only start with $800, any more and everyone starts with crazy amounts of money and the AWP pops out in like 2 rounds.

Putting all your suggestions into effect now witht he exception of the custom map one. SV_DOWNLOADURL has not been put into effect yet, and people doing trickle downloading on the server will kill it.

make sure the bots dont give you money if you join on a map change and they are playing.

thats how i got the AWP the second round once on your server, the bots were playing a round and CT's won, so i had like 3k the "first" round everyone was in there, only bought a pistol as i have a set buy plan, and then i could afford the AWP next round.
 
Mike's suggestions have all been put into place.

Bots have been removed also.

A DoD: S server may be coming out in a few days. I haven't tried the game out yet, if I like it I'll add a DOD: S server. If I don't, I won't !😛
 
I get the best ping in LA (live there), but Texas seems to be the furthest I can go and still have a pretty good connection...

Automatic closing should only be a problem if you put the command in the Run box, rather than opening a command window. Something you can also do is reformat the commands like so:

Seattle, Washington... "ping -n 10 63.208.142.122 > seattle.txt"

The > pushes the results into the filename rather than showing it on screen. Makes for easier copy/paste.
 
Chicago seems good to me avg ping is 52ms
should be good for everyone as its centrally located

Is it possible to have the bots on at certian times of the day?
Sucks when there is only 2 people on 😛

Maybe have bots on during the day or once a certian # of people are in the server and than turn them off in the evenings?

Did they ever remake the map where you were in a extremly large room?
can't remember the name but remember playing on it in CS
 
I've contemplated making the server a 66 tick server isntead of 100. If that were the case I'd be paying half the price. What od you guys think? It would allow me to order 2 more game servers instead of one more.

It isn't 🙁 I've never noticed the difference, but others have said they do.

Chicago, Illinois - avrg 21ms
St. Louis, Missouri - avrg 32ms
New york - avrg 36ms
Atlanta, Georgia - avrg 38ms
Tampa Bay, Florida - avrg 51ms
Dallas, Texas - avrg 56ms
Seattle, Washington - avrg 74ms
San Jose, Cali - avrg 81ms
Los Angeles, California - avrg 87ms

for some reason through the seattle server I get over 100 ping. It could be the way my broadband is routed though. Clearwire piggybacks with Verizon 🙁

These three are seriously good maps.
Good ol' classic de_dust2 and inferno.
No dust or aztec because those two maps are one sided.
24 players are the best, not too little, not too crowded.

i dont find Aztec one sided if you do a proper rush... D1 on the other hand YES, but a proper A rush through tunnels running in backwards is a good way to not be one sided.

also, include dc_mill or whatever it is, niceee map.

if you want to talk about one sided, Italy can be very one sided, but there needs to be a good awper in the map for that to happen.
