Well, I have looked everywhere, but to no avail....thought I would see if anyone has ever seen an adapter or a mounting plate that would allow you to line-up the holes and install an ATX m/b in an AT case....I have an Old, solid steel Gateway case I would like to use to build a system for someone...have an ATX p/s, so just a matter of mounting the board in the AT case....Anyone ever seen an adapter, or have any ideas?

I posted this question before and received a good idea about drilling holes in the mounting plate to line it up...

any ideas short of buying a new atx case are more than welcome...I do have another ATX case here, but this Gateway case is sweeeetttt...and it matches the old monitor, too :) The drilling holes will work nice, but an adapter or a converting plate would be nice...anyone? Anyone? Beuller?

The drilling of the holes are quite good for the situation for now. I do not think there is a way of finding and buying a replacement plate from a manufacturer and the fact that cases come in different shapes and designs. Not all motherboard trays work in every case I think.

Drill holes. Make sure they exactly line up and the right drill bit for the metal standoffs you are using. Good luck! :)

Thanks for the reply...Yea, I borrowed a tap and die set from a friend, so will go get a bunch of metal, threaded spacers to mount it and go for broke...I think I should throw a couple old cards in the PCI slots and mount those to the side of the case to ensure I have the board mounting properly...

...I guess with the price of new cases being so affordable, no one developed a converter or a universal mounting plate adapter or whatever :) However, I really want to use this case...a friend and I can stand on this bad boy (300+ pounds) and it's so well-constructed inside...I thought about cutting the mounting plate out of an old ATX case I have and mounting that in it, but the extra 1/8" or so may cause the cards not to seat properly...drilling it is :)

www.directron.com have IO shields.

As for the spacers, use an exacto knife to cut the plastic spacer the part that would normally embed inside the MB tray. Use Super glue to glue the modified spacer to the MB tray, and Wahlah no drilling.
