Agreed. Keep it on unless they offer to take it for you.

I usually keep it on so that I can make a run for the door.....;)

I do usually leave it on and just un-button it. If it gets hot I take it off because I am horrible with heat and break out in a sweat instantly.

And if following that advice causes a problem in the interview - you probably don't want to work for them anyway!

Leave it on, unless you feel so hot that it causes more problems than taking it off will.

I say it depends on the interview. If you're applying for a Wall Street job, do as the other guys say. If it's for a lab tech job or something less formal or business-like, do whatever the hell you want.

A. Do not take off the coat unless asked to 'get more comfortable'. But then it could be a trick question: They ask you to get comfortable, and you take off your coat. Which means you are NOT comfortable in with the coat on?
B. If you are a bit too uncomfy in the coat, and (say) sweating (I hope due to the heat), be frank and polite and ask if it would be ok with them if you took off the coat.

Hehe: One of my interviews was supposed to last for an hour or so. I was all dressed up. The people interviewing me had just returned from a jobsite (this was for a construction firm). And all of a sudden, I was the best-dressed person in the room! After the initial pleasentaries were exchanged, I told them directly that since the job I was interviewing for was a field job, it should not matter whether I interviewed with my coat on or off. They agreed readily :)

Depends on the atmosphere. My father's office was very relaxed, especially among the engineers. They preferred the engineers to actually be a little less formal. But that was one particular place, you have to judge by the place you go.
