At 8:27 AM Central Daylight Savings time, Soccerman breathed his last.

From what (relatively) little I knew of Michael... he was a good guy, and will be missed as a contributor to this msg board. (Which pales in comparison to how much I'm sure he'll be missed in the real world.) 🙁
 
Wow. I was not aware of his condidtion.

This comes as a great shock to myself. I am again reminded of the frailty and preciousness of life, and of the far too little space-time he was given.

My sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends.

May you be granted the peace you deserve and may your friends and family find solace knowing that you now rest without fear of pain or discomfort.

 
Unbelievable. I communicated with Soccerman quite a bit in these forums, and we even exchanged emails with ideas about his in-progress website... and he did have plenty of ideas! I always thought of Soccerman as an inseparable part of the Anandtech community, and I feel that his is a great loss for all of us.
 
And another thing:

Soccerman had a motto in his sig: I will change the world. I think we should take on some of his optimism regarding our ability to make the world a better place.
 
he was a very plesant to chat with, and contributed a lot to these forums. may memory of him live on.

 
That's indeed sad. 🙁

I remember discussing stuff with him, though it was a long time ago, I assumed he did like many other members and slowly went away from here due to the way this forum has been going.
I could never imagine he was going away in this tragic way. 🙁
 
Yes it is indeed a sad day for the community. I had no idea Michael was sick. My condolences to his family and relatives. He will be missed! 🙁

Holy smokes!! :Q Hard to believe when this kind of thing happens... you never expect someone you know, call "friend", or even love, simply passes away so suddenly....

He will be missed around here.
Rest well until the resurrection day.... hope I see him there. 😉
