AT 7800GT review

First observation: Lower end redesigned parts to replace the 6xxx series would probably use 11nm tech, which would lead to smaller dies, and lower power consumption, reducing heat in the end, and reducing cost to make the die in the first place, making it a better deal for both consumers and nVidia, although transitioning the NV40 to 0.11 might not be worth the hassle.

The AT article is borked. No graphs on most pages and one link points to a search function. LOL. They must have rushed it out.
Either it's borked, or getting hammered by traffic beyond imagination.

Stupid, and from the BF2 graphs it looks REALLY stupid, since they didn't put in ANY useful nVidia numbers from previous generations, ie: not 6800 cards of any kind, and only 1 ATi card.
How pitiful is that to make comparisons from?

Have you found any good articles yet?

Agreed. I'd REALLY Like to see a revised version of this review with some 6800GT/Ultra numbers thrown in for comparison.

Err, BitTech IIRC has their stupid "best settings", I think HardOCP does that too, err, Guru3D IIRC only had 1 ATi card for comparson as well, and no nVIdia cards from the 6 series, so no.

Derek Wilson & Josh Venning need to refine that article because it looks incomplete. I would also like to see a 6800 Ultra in there for a comparison.

It's much better-ish now, they don't have decent BF2 comparison, but for the other games which have graphs up (Doom 3 EQ 2 etc) they have lots of numbers, even 6600GT SLI, which is nice.

Why is it that in a few instances the 7800gt is faster than the x850xtpe at 16*12, but when you turn on AA and AF it actually falls behing the x850 at 16*12, 4x8x? You think there's a bug in the drivers, or is it that after 3 generations, and NV still cant do efficient AA?

Funny statement to say that graphics are limited by monitors. I think it is mainly limited by the games and all those people like me who own old tech. In the next few months I would expect the programs to catch up to the hardware. Or these new cards will be a hard sell, as not many will pay big money just to play at a very high resolution, at least the cheapies like me won't. Only other quibble is that anand does not do good quality noise testing. Otherwise nice review.

Yeah, the only thing that might be limited by monitors are the 7800gtx SLI cards, but then those are limited by 256mb mem. Saying that a 7800gt that gets 35fps at 16x12 4xAA in Chaos Theory is monitor-limited is umm... pretty dumb. Even a 7800gtx gets <60fps at those settings, so if anything, you need at LEAST a single 7800gtx for 16x12, and for higher res you'd probably need dual 7800gtx's.

Yeah, well ATI does beat Nvidia most of the time, its just they didn't have SM3 this gen. If they did, there would have been no point in buying an nvidia card.

It is funny though. All those extra pipes dont do much (though adding 4 more helps alot)...and i didn't check clock speeds...so...yeah...

Still, its a good buy for $400.

You'll have to cut them a bit of slack, supposedly Nvidia didn't give the reviewers much time on this one, with the cards arriving just Tuesday.:brokenheart:

it just beat it in one of the tests which is not something out of the ordinary. i think its quite a decent card but has to come to 400 and below to make it a better buy than the GTX.

Other reviews show better numbers... this seem way too low, sorry but I can't trust this review, looks like something is bad.
