Asynchronous with ram slower then fsb?

My P5Q-E just arrived yesterday and I will be installing it this weekend. I will likely OC it in a few weeks.

I know with my SLI asynchornous was not a big deal but I've been reading that the other chipsets run only 1:1? Is that right?

I have the OCZ ram in my sig and I'm from what I've seen I don't know if I will be able to push it past 800mhz.
 
The current Intel chipsets can't go lower than a 1:1 ratio. However, this ratio is based on the base clocks of the FSB and DDR2 memory. To get the base clock of the FSB, you divide by 4 and for DDR2, you divide by 2. So with memory clocked at DDR2-800 speeds and using a 1:1 ratio, your FSB will be 1600MHz, the same as the system in your sig.
 
Not that I would want to, but if I were to run the memory at least at the base in my case 800/4= 200 (ddr2-800), then I can run the FSB higher then 400? I think that's what you are saying. Thanks for the reply.
 
Almost, you divide the memory speed by 2 only. Therefore if you want to keep your memory to be no higher than DDR2-800 (base clock 400MHz), then the maximum FSB you can reach on the P45 chipset is 1600MHz (base clock 400MHz).
 
On my Asus P5N-D (nForce 750i SLI) the memory and FSB clocks can be set unlinked. So I have my FSB at 1780 and my DDR2-1066 at 1066.🙂
