is it possible to play and asx file with winamp by getting the appropriate codec. if so, which codec would i need?

asx files are normally WMP streaming files, but i would like to use winamp, cos i use winamp for everything.

I've managed to get them to work, but its a little work. I take the link to I think the asx file, create an html file with a link to that, right click and save so that the asx file is on my computer. its just a text file, and by viewing it in notepad there should be links to the actual stream, usually they start with "mms://".... you can play location in winamp, put in that link, but append "/.wma" onto the end of it, and it should work. I found most of this by searching in winamps forums and on google. good luck!

thanks, i got it to work.

i'm not sure if this is what you meant, but i opened the wma file with notepad, copy the link, and the open winamp and click "File / Play URL" and past the link in there as: "mms://whereeverthefileis.com/.wma"
