Hey guys,

Just upgraded the ol' rig from a Core 2 9550 to a 4770k with the Asus Z87-k mobo and thought I'd try my hand at some light overclocking.

I was looking for 4-4.2 ghz, nothing crazy, but when I'm in the Asus UEFI - I set Ai overclock to manual, sync'ed the cores and if I set the core clocks at anything higher than 39 (3.9 ghz), it just resets to 39. I'm not sure why?

Is there a setting I'm missing? Thanks in advance!

I had a similar problem with my P8Z77-V LK motherboard. Whatever I did I could not set the multiplicator above 45. I did a complete BIOS reset (wrote down the last stable settings) and I worked like a charm (although I needed a lot more voltage to go to 4,6 GHz)

Hmmmm. Maybe I will update the BIOS; whatshisface from the ASUS OC'ing videos says to do one before playing around. Maybe this is why, I will try a reset if that doesn't work.

However, if there are any other explanations, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks

Did you try changing it per core? It will have 4 fields with a turbo multiplier for each of them.
