Asus Z170 Pro Gaming adding a PCI express sata card - performance

Hi,

I recently updated my system. Used to run an I5 2500K on an Asus P8P67 deluxe board. Now I run an I5 6600K on an Asus Z170 Pro gaming board.
Everything seems fine, stable and cool except the missing of 2 extra sata ports.

I know I had to overthink before buying a new board but forgot the quantity on Harddrives running on my system.
So I would like to add a Pci Express Sata 600 controller. (UPC code: 065030838955)
But before buying one, I have some questions about the performance.

-Would adding such card have some kind of influence on the overall performance of the system?
-Would it have influence on the performance of my GTX 970 GPU?
-It would have to run RAID 1 (mirror), would it do fine or better rely on the raid option coming from Intel (Through the BIOS of the Z170 board itself)
-Anyone has got one of these in his system and has got some more feedback on this, it would be welcome.

thanks

It gives you extra sata ports, but that card is pretty much junk, and slower than your onboard sata controler.

Late reply:
It was only needed as raid controller for 2 backup hdd's. They work perfect now and I don't see any issues with my GPU.

Do you have an m.2 slot? Have you considered installing an M.2 drive as the OS/system drive thus freeing up a SATA port?

Yep,

there is one M2 connector.
Was thinking about the same but performance wise, would it be an upgrade or just a small hole in my budget?
