Asus Z170 Premium reviews and alternatives?

Hello everyone!

Does anyone know about any reviews of the Asus Z170 Premium? Or alternative boards that feature USB 3.1 ports based on *both* Intel (+TB) and Asmedia chipsets?

Thanks in advance!

All I know is the Gigabyte based boards were suppose to have an exclusive on the use of the Intel certified Alpine Ridge USB 3.1 controller but that exclusivity may now be over with the release of the ASUS Z170 Premium like you mention.

My tidbit: DX12 looks like it will provide for extremely productive use of SLI and multiple core CPUs in games. the x99 processors are getting a refresh at CeBIT in a few days. Furthermore, the x99 processors allow for many more PCIe lanes, such as NVMe SSDs (which micron's newest SSD based on PCIe is many times faster than current SSDs). Basically, I plan on upgrading from an i5 to a i7 extreme with 28+ pcie lanes and increase my gpu count from 1x with pascal to 2x in 2017 to 3x sli when volta releases, using cards from each gen. DX12 benchmarks show mixed GPU functionality, and enhanced CPU use in DX12. I probably will not get the 10-core CPU, I'll simply find which ever one has the right PCI lanes for the price.

is there a noticeable difference in the overclocking ability of various Z170 boards? i'm putting together a future i7-6700K build and i was wondering how much should i put into a MoBo. difference between mATX and ATX? any boards known to have good overclocking ability?

Almost every review I read on z170 motherboards, they all generally perform and overclock within such a small difference of each other. A $300 motherboard might give you a 1% better overclock than a $150 board, but it could also just come down to the winning the CPU lottery.......

that's good to know, Thanks.
