I have had the above sound card for 2-3 yrs now. Sound quality has been excellent both in games and music.

The big problem has been that @ twice a month the card is just gone/not 'seen' by DM. I've tried different drivers, disconnecting/re-connecting, uninstall/re-install, different molex connectors from MB, blowing out dust from case... and then it will work. For a while.... then the same process over again...

Yesterday, I was so sick of having to do this that I pulled the card out of my comp and am now using onboard sound.

Ideas?

Common Problem.. "This happens when the EEPROM on the card gets overwritten.
(This EEPROM stores the PCI subsystem vendor and product IDs; when it gets overwritten, the main chip cannot read the subsystem IDs and uses a default ID (13F6:8788) which is not recognized by the Xonar driver.)"

Kind of a pain but below link details fix.

Yikes... thx for info. I will attempt to do one of those options to solve this....What a PITA... (the card and process, not you... lol )

Ridiculous to me that Asus never addressed that issue in multiple driver releases for this sound card.... and very expensive card... think I paid around @ $200. or so.....

Had 'chat' w/ live Asus tech support about 3 hours ago... why wouldn't the tech be aware of the issue? Dumb question I guess.
