Asus x99 E-WS + Xeon CPU?

Hi I am looking to order my CPU (messed up the first order) Can I use a xeon Cpu with an Asus x99 -e ws Mobo?

If so what are my options, i am using my new build for AE-Blender-CS6-Ableton Live 9 and need fast production.

Current hardware already purchased or awaiting send

1 Intel 730 240gb SSD (Boot) Shipping

2 850 pro's Have

Seagate HDD 3 TB Have

Vengeance LPX DDR4 64gb 2400 Have

Quadro 5200 Have

Asus x99 -e ws Have

Corsair Watercooler 105h I believe (Shipping)

I am a bit confused about the CPU and don't want to screw up my order again.

I really want a Xeon, If not I will get the 5960x....

Yes you can. Here's a list of supported CPUs. Note that some may require a BIOS update before installing the CPU. You'll basically want to avoid those.

Hm, that doesn't look worthwhile to me. Assuming your applications can use all cores fully:

E5-2650 V3: 10C * 2.3GHz = 23 GHz*C, for ~$1100.

5960x: 8C * 3GHz = 24 GHz*C, for ~$1000.

Your original idea looks better. There's plenty of other CPUs available, but the ones better than the 5960x cost $100s to $1000s more.
