So got this board after reading great reviews and the fact that it supports 5xxx cpus right off the bat but the PCH fan is loud and constantly spinning up and down between 1-2k, any thoughts? Obviously with a 3080, the whole area is kind of blocked, I definitely cannot live with this noise and would hate to have to put my old x99 system back in just for this reason...

Update: Looks like a false alarm, tuns out had accidentally turned my antec tricool fan switch on the side panel to high causing the noise lol. Chipset fan is barely audible even under the massive 3080. On another, it seems that Ryzen is much more finicky with memory clocks. I was able to run my Crucial 2133 at 2400 CL13/2666 CL15 on my x99 at 1.35 v no issues, with this setup all I can do is 2400 CL18, quite pathetic. Still have to research ryzen memory overclocks and atleast everything works now but wanted to see if there were any quick pointers? Have vDDR at 1.35v and vSOC at 1.05v and PBO enabled for now (the CPU is boosting to 4.85 Ghz which is nice)...

Must be doing something wrong just playing with usual timings including trfc doesn't seem to make 2666 stable even at 18-22-22-40-62-540 as loose timings as they get. Underwhelming since the ram did so well on x99 at 2400 CL13. Got a pair of Oloy 16 gb x 2 2600 from NE for 80+tax today though, probably the easier route.

Was already wondering, even 2000 RPM is nothing for a fan with that diameter.

what cpu do you have?

It sounds like you need to buy better ram. Corsair vengeance LPX 3600 is easy to get and for better AMD compatibility they offer an AMD version that has the letter z in the model number.

5800x, yeah already got the oloy 3600 from NE. Just bewildered as to why it would perform so differently between my x99 system and this.

This is the kit I got, had a $10 NE GC to burn and think this is about as low as a 3600 32GB kit has ever been:

The ram does not have XMP, it's just Crucial 2133 RAM 4x8Gb 2133 dual rank, what's interesting is that there have been many reports of this particular ram doing atleast 3000:
https://www.overclockers.com/forums...x8GB-DDR4-2133-CL15-1-2V-CT4K8G4DFD8213/page3 with tight timings on both Intel and AMD systems and since it was sitting pretty at ddr4 2400 at CL13 for 5 years solid on my x99 mobo, I had high hopes for it doing 3000 and lasting into the new build, but it will only do 2400 CL18 on the 5800x/x570 system. Ah well atleast it works at that speed and is stable and memory is dirt cheap now so a trivial matter in the end. Hoping the new 3600 Oloy arrives quick and works well.

I meant the 3600 ram. :)
