Question Asus X570-P + Crucial E-Die Memory (not OC perspective)

For my 3600x build I went with the Asus Prime X570-P. The QVL list showed that Crucial BLS8G4D32AESBK (e die) was compatible, but only tested the 8GB model, up to 4 slots (they show 3200/3200). It looks like these boards will be daisy chained, so I emailed Asus support and asked if the 16GB*2 version should theoretically also be compatible, but their answer was:

"Allow me to personally extend my humblest apologies for the inconvenience however the device listed on the QVL documents are the models that have been tested to be fully supported. This model may have been tested but not added due to it not meeting certain performance standards." I guess I shouldn't have hoped for different.

I don't generally bother with overclocking (prefer less tinkering, more reliability) and use my desktop for work (including 3d/video/design etc) as much as dirty casual gaming so figured I'd ask, is it going to hinder performance if I stick with the QVL approved memory over going dual channel with the new architecture? I've seen discussions elsewhere but they've been largely from the OC community with the silicon lottery as a primary concern.

I am not sure if I am understanding your question correctly. Are you asking the performance difference between:

1. Single channel memory configuration, using a DIMM in QVL
2. Dual channel memory configuration, using DIMMs not listed in QVL

I would go with the option #2. All memory sticks follow certain standards imposed by JEDEC, and they all share the chips from a few vendors. (Samsung, Micron, and Hynix) Chances are sticks not listed in QVL will still work, and dual channel gives you a theoretically double the bandwidth for your processor.

Having said that, the performance loss from running a single channel memory configuration is minimal on X570 platform. If it suits your need, do not be afraid of sticking with it.
