"IDE masterboot not found"

i have no idea how to shut this off, can't even seem to find any switches or BIOS options for IDE stuff

runnin' SATA HD and DVD-RW, IDE is obsolete to me, annoyin' gettin' this popup when comp starts

-thx

Check out the 'integrated stuff' and boot sequence related section as well as disk section. I don't have an ASUS X38 but I'm guessing the board is using JMicron so look for it. (Disable it)

by default the boards load in IDE mode.

1. If you loaded in IDE mode and then changed to raid or ahci then nogo

2. If you loaded raid or ahci and then went to IDE mode then nogo

If you have changed to raid or AHCI and the bios reset then it will try to load them in IDE mode.

How did you install the OS, Raid, AHCI or IDE ?

well, I'll try the J-micron disable option

no IDE's involved whatsoever, just 2 SATA devices; HD and DVD-RW drives

you can bypass the IDE message, but it is annoying and uncecessary

no RAIDS on this system

i'll also try updating the BIOS and resetting it too.

thx
