Asus x1950pro

GPU: http://www.newegg.com/product/...p?item=N82E16814121031

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/product/...p?item=N82E16817104953

Quiet and cooling are a priority.

All the benchmarks I've seen used 500-600 watt PSU.

I'll be ordering this right after July 22nd. If you guys can recommend me a better quality GPU with similar cooling features (I rather not buy additional fans or cooling) feel free to.

Here is my case:

I'll be playing gpu intense games like battlefield 2 and battlefield 2142. I know active games can bump up the heat very quickly.

Comments/responses/suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated.

what cpu are you going to use? You could buy the x1950 xtx for that same price on newegg. The psu is rated at >70% efficiency, so that's 280 w + at load. That should handle most systems with a single gpu, although you might want to reconsider if you're looking for a massive oc on a quad core.

I won't be ocing.

I'll be running an E4400.

the x1950xt requires major cooling and additional fans, in addition to a more expensive psu.

I don't want to take a chance at blowing up my parts. This will be my first build.

What PSU do you recommend?

I have a budget BTw. Currently my rig is $730 shipped.

Those PSUs are too pricey, plus I'm ordering from newegg exclusively.

That 512mb looks nice, but I've heard the extra memory doesn't impact FPS that much.
I want a x1950pro or performance equivalent that can operate full-load without additional cooling or fan systems (aside from the standard C5 case fans and air flow.)

7900GS is below my standards, but the x1950xt is beyond my budget.

Suggestions?

Yes , it will work fine on a good 400W PSU... Good case BTW I own one in another State though....

It will run easily on that PSU...

I just built a rig with the Sapphire 1950 Pro 256 card and a Fortron Blue Storm 400 PSU ... no issues whatsoever with that setup. The 1950's aren't that power hungry, and the FSP you linked to has a bit higher +12 rails than the one I went with. Looks fine to me !!

I was just thinking of your future upgrades. The two things I never go cheap on are power supplies and monitors because they can last three to four system upgrades. As far as the 512MB video memory I was thinking you may want a 20? widescreen down the road and at 1680X1050 with high textures you may well need it.

As for the power supplies you could also want to drop in a quad down the road when they drop to 45nm and come down in price. I could go on but you get my point.
As far as ordering only from Newegg that?s fine I only linked to Zip because the supplies were much cheaper there and they have free 2 day FedEx shipping.

Just my 2cents? enjoy your new system you will love it.

Will the 512mb X1950pro require a more powerful PSU?

I'll be playing at either 1400x900 or 1280x1024.

It has the same core clock and mem clock so I don't think so.... Like I said though I would up the PS for down the road but it is up to you.

At 1400x900 or 1280x1024 the 256MB will be ok but like I said if you upgrade your monitor down the road you would be better off with the 512MB (just got my 20" for $200). My brother plays battlefield 2142 with a 22" (1680X1050) and is darn glad he got the 512MB because of the textures.
