Congrats on the new card as well, should be a big improvement for you. I probably would have kept the X800XTPE in my box till the 7800GTX had SLI not come out.

You're welcome! . . . i should have addressed this earlier.

Well, this card gives me a little room to breathe . . . it's tough being completely without a gaming card and i might have been a little cranky. . . . my 9800xt died because the fan connector to the ArcticCooling VGA got loose . . . my fault . . . but then it was also really cheap - same price as this one - and lasted 2 years fully flashed and o/c'd. . . . i might even get to reuse my cooler [maybe not, i'd like a "warranty" this time]. ;)

AFAIK, i have 30 days at MicroCenter to return it w/o restocking charges . . . that'll give me time to satisfy myself regarding the x1700xt and the 7700gt [i guess] price-performancewise and if they will be in AGP . . .

however, i think this el cheapo $200 upgrade will last me and my aging rig until i go for the complete rig 'makeover' . . . someday i'll get another nVidia card . . . i really wanted the 6800GT or ultra but they are still too expensive in AGP.

:)

I love Anandtech and all but you need to get out and read some other reviewers too. It's good to be well-rounded. That doesn't mean you have to believe everything you read, but there are a lot of good review sites out there that are worth taking a look at.
I didn't say I didn't read the other reviews. I just don't trust them. :)

You really have been more balanced lately Rollo. It's refreshing to see you post positive about both the red and the green, even if you throw in snide little comments like this lol.

I'm not too surprised, ATI has been close to the top since the 8500.

Sorry to get off topic but Rollo really does deserve a thanks for the effort at being more balanced. Not balanced mind you, but more balanced.
