Asus windows bios updating

I just built a system that does not have a floppy. I tried to use the Asus Update program that came with my P4P800. Upon installing, it went to the Asus website and updated itself. Fine and dandy. I then picked a BIOS option. The screen had a progress bar that eventually filled, and the ASUS program went away. I waited for 10 minutes and the program didn't come back (I thought it was updating the BIOS or something). When I tried to shut down, Xp said the flash program was still running and not responding.

So, I rebooted (rebooted no problem, the original bios was never touched from what I can tell.. no error messages or anything). When I tried to run the update program again, I got an error message saying I didn't have an ASUS board.

So, I uninstalled the program, rebooted and re-installed it again. It still says I didn't have an ASUS board.

So, am I screwed for updating through Windows and I should just get a floppy or what?

I have a small FAT32 partition on one of my hard drives...it works great for thing like flashing the BIOS or updating firmware....

I've never had a problem with the Asus Windows BIOS updater program. Did you choose download the BIOS from the Internet or did you specify a BIOS file?

If you did the download from the Internet thing, try downloading the BIOS file yourself and pointing the program to it.

Wobble,
I tried the internet at first. When that didn't work I was going to point to it and update that way (like you say).
Problem though, I can't run the program anymore as for some reason it doesn't think I have ASUS board! Even after a re-install!

I can't boot from a CD because I don't have a burner anymore, so I can't put it on a CD in the first place.

Oh well. I think I'll just bite the bullet and put a floppy in it. It's not worth spending more time on.

do you have a cd drive of any variety as if you have you can use it & the m/board cd to recover.
check your manual on what to do!

Huh? Recover what? My original BIOS? Thats not a problem.

Is there some kind of syndrome or something on this board with people not reading posts?

Thanks for the help though, people.
