Asus WiFi-G Adapter - Proprietary?

Hey all,

Have someone selling a bundled Asus WiFi-G adapter on its own... Looks like a standard PCI card, but with a detachable extended antenna.

Does anyone know if this is proprietary to the newer Asus boards? I have a CUV4X that I'm trying to upgrade on the cheap for a friend and haven't see this little device before.

Looks like this. The description says "Any PCI-equipped desktop PC", but then it says "Only supported by applicable Asus motherboards with the WiFi slot"

Just don't want to run into driver/compatibility issues.

From what the site says, this appears to be a poor write up of the item offered. Note the small print under the item, "Picture for illustration purposes only, may not represent actual product". And when you go to the "More information from vendor" link, you are shown a slightly different product that makes no mention of only working on an ASUS chipset. I would query the seller to see if indeed the product being sold is the ASUS WL-138g. If not, then, perhaps the item offered is some discontinued or prorietary item as you referenced in your post.

Edited: Buy.com has the WL-138G for 36.99 w/free shipping. I also sent an email to Premier Canada Computer asking if this item is the WL-138g. I'll post answer upon receipt.

I PM'ed you back.. They stated it should work in any PCI slot.

Going to roll the dice on it I think.
