My friend has an Asus W3H00V that is not recognizing the USB 2.0 ports in Windows 7.

Here is what it looks like in Device Manager:

I went to the Asus support website to see if I could download the latest chipset, and the model is not listed:

Is there a legacy support website?

What if I just uninstalled the USB drivers and rebooted? Would Windows 7 recognize the USB 2.0 ports or will it revert back to the way it is now?

Thanks.

For me, you have the issue backwards. I would say Windows 7 does not recognize the USB 2.0 ports in the Asus notebook. Having said that, what are the BIOS settings in the Notebook as regards the USB ports? First step is to determine if it is a Notebook hardware problem or a Windows 7 software problem.

Yes, that's what I meant. I have my dyslexic moments. ;)

You were exactly right. It was a BIOS setting. The USB 2.0 Controller was disabled. We just enabled it and we were good to go!

Thanks!
