I'm almost done with my new rig shopping list and just need to select a monitor. The monitor will be exclusively used for gaming.

I've narrowed it down to either

ASUS VW266H http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824236047 or
ASUS VE278Q http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824236103

I like the fact that the VW2266H is 1900x1200 and I know the LED backlight is nice on the VE278Q. The VW2266H is $256.85 deliverd after rebate while the VE278Q is $387.85 delivered, $131 more.

SO two questions: 1) Is the LED backlight worth $131 (remebering that I'll also lose the 16:10 ratio that I like) and 2) Would you recommend any other similar spec and priced monitor?

Thanks!

well, a lot of people prefer 16:10 for productivity apps but you said it was exclusively for gaming so 16:9 would be better for that.

I have an Asus 23.6" and it has a pixel density of 8716 per sq. in. The 26" model would be 7887 and the 27" model would be 6663. My face is about 2' away when sitting straight up and slightly more when leaning back. That is about perfect for me.

The lower pixel density might bother me but I wouldn't be sure unless I saw it in person. The $131 premium would bother me more. Without pricing, I would probably pick the 27"

Having the 25.5" monitor myself I don't think I would want to go any coarser on the pixel count but I haven't seen the 27" in person. I also prefer the 1920 x 1200 over 1080p resolution. The rest of the specs look comparable, so I'd save the $131 for something else.

I love my Asus 27" monitor, best I've ever owned. The LED version isn't worth the extra 50 bucks though in my opinion, they are hard to see any difference

I went 1080p due to gaming.

Wow i'm glad that i saw this before buying my lcd, just a question isn't the led (in this case VE278Q and VK278Q) better with blacklight bleed stuff and higher dynamic contrast ratio plus the power saving a good option? that's as far i know about those 2 leds models because i cannot find a proper review (hope i can find one before i'm 100% sure to buy it or not) :p

Re-opening this topic, I am stuck between these two monitors and the
Hanns-G
HZ281HP
Seems to use WUXGA
&
Hanns-G
HH281HPB
Only lists it as FULL HD in their specs.
I-Inc
I-Inc IH-282HPB
Looks like it is a rebadged HZ281HP as it has 2 HDMI cables and is listed as a sceen of WUXGA on the spec sheets. I am not quite sure of the difference between the two.

Hannspree
HF289HJB
Hannspree, Hanns-G, I-Inc all seem to be the same company and they just take the same monitor and rebadge it. the Hanns-G and Hannspree carry a 3 year warranty while the I-Inc seems to carry a 1 yr warranty. This monitor again seems to be the hanns G HZ281HP and I-Inc IH-282HPB. I think there is a height adjustment on the HH281HPB which is the main difference between them.
