1) ASUS EN8800GT 512MB DDR3 VS PALIT 8800GT 512MB DDR3
2) ASUS EN9600GT 512MB DDR3 VS PALIT 9600GT 512MB DDR3

Which brand wins? I need some help here as I need to choose a powerful gpu for my new cpu. Thank you very much for your valuable opinions.
 
Asus, because I have never heard of Palit.

the cards should perform identically (if they are at the same clock speed). The only question after that is "How load are the fans" and "who has a better warrentee"
 
Never heard of Palit? They're an interesting brand that usually adds something to the reference design. The 9600Gt I bought has HDMI, display port, DVI and SPDIF. It also uses 3 phase power instead of the standard 2 phase. Thought to increase stability. I think Palit makes cool cards and they have a decent rep as far as I know. Asus does have a better warranty. The 8800GT is more powerful than the 9600GT. Though the 9600GT is usually a bit cheaper. Depending on you rig, you may not need the 8800GT. What are the rest of your specs? Monitor size and resolution?
 
I had a palit TNT2 that worked flawlessly, of course this was a long time ago. 🙂 ..I never had a problem with my Asus 8600GTS with the zalman cooler, either.
 
Palit has a rep floating around as a ATF member ... palitguy, i think ..

the warranty probably is worth comparing between these two brands 😉

I seem to remember Palit being popular in Europe.

I have always been a big fan of ASUS, I have had a few of their video cards and mostly use their motherboards.

I did notice a lot of Tech sites reviews Palit cards this time around so you might be able to get a better feel for them.
 
People are suggesting me to use Gigabyte GA EP35-DS3. I wonder if the pcie v1.1 of this board would bring down the performance of my new 8800GT or 9600GT? I'm using a 19" monitor. Any good suggestion on the monitors? I prefer square shape since wide screen always has my resolution out of the place when playing games.

Below are my predicted specs:

CORSAIR XMS2 DDR800 2GB
GIGABYTE ODIN PRO 550W

sigh..

Currently no card is maxing out on its bandwidth (ie. PCIE 1.x or 2.0) AFAIK. Therefor, no it will not bring down performance..

Actually I think the ATI 3870x2 showed gains going to PCI-e 2.0 in some review I saw, so I'm guessing 9800GX2 will show similiar gains as well. However for a 8800GT you're probably right.
