Hey for the last couple of years ive brought Asus mobo(from 939 to 775) I years ago had a gigabyte mobo for Northwood(intel). That mobo died on me after several months so since then i only used Asus. Years later people seem to like the Gigabyte brand. Can anyone give me a short comparison (pro vs cons) on the Gigabytes. one thing i like about Asus is since im not full up on overclocking with asus i can go in the bios and set it to a 10 or 20% overclock. When the X38 come out im trying to decide whether to stay with Asus or switch to Gigabyte ?

Why would you want to change if you've always been happy with ASUS...?

I will probably stay with ASUS for my next upgrade, even though I've had issues with my present MB - but these are the 650i chipset issues, and MB is solid otherwise.

I'm in a similiar situation. I can't decide whether to get the Asus P5K Premium or the Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6 for my current build.

Hopefully when Anandtech releases their P35 mobo roundup, it will help with the decision process.

I never stick to one brand. I've had Epox, Soyo, Abit, Asus, & MSI boards over the years.

Ill go with whatever is best and not just by brand. I started building my own pc with Northwood. I stuck with Intel until the Amd X2 (dual cores) came out then i switched. Now that Core 2 Duo is better im using that now. Im just wondering if Gigabyte mobos are better (i use that term better loosely) than Asus as far as stability, speed and reliability

Depends on the board. See one board using one chipset from Asus can be better than everything. Then another board using another chipset from Asus can be bad when compared to something else at the time.

Yep, go by model and not by brand. They both make some good models and they both make some not so good models.

For instance when the P965 cane out the Gigabyte had alot of problems with certain memory. The P5B from Asus didn't have so many. Now with the P35 they're both good.
