I am in the market for a KT-133A or E board. I don't need raid. Should I get the Asus or the Abit?

I think both manufacturers make great boards. Abit gets a hard wrap because they tend to have higher RMA rates, but few boards offer as many bells and whistles as Abit. Thier bundled software and documentation is high quality as well.

From what I have read abit boards are not worth the trouble. They seem to have a lot of failures (probably because they offer everything and the kitchen sink). Also they have uhmmm "misinformed" thier customers in the past (mostly with ECC ram issues). I have an Asus K7M and I have had NO problems with it. Im always buying Asus if I can.

I've got a KT7-RAID, I've had no trouble what-so-ever. So, it was worth the "trouble" for me, since the only trouble I've had is paying of the #$@! credit card  .

Also, my two friends both have KT7-RAIDs, and neither of them have had any problems. So, Abit's gone 3-0 with me and my friends.

I'm hoping the KG7 is as feature filled as some of the current 760 boards out today, like the Epox. 195fsb is pretty impressive :), and having that on the KG7 would deffinantly be a major plus.

That was just my opinion. And like I said I have been very happy with my asus mobo so I dont see a reason to buy another brand ;)

I didn't mean it as an attack or anything (sorry if you took it as one), I was just expressing my experiance with Abit, and I'm glad you've had a good one with Asus.

I really don't have any bias for motherboard manufacturers. I don't care about "Abit vs. Asus." I'll just buy whoever has a superior product. Beit Asus, Abit, MSI, FIC, Shuttle, PC Chips, whatever.

Can't go wrong with either, I have a KT7 Raid and it's been a dream for me.
Allot of people bash Abit though.
I never experienced the many problems they all talk about on my Abit board.

I've had nothing but the best to say about ABIT, i've installed almost half of all there Mobo's to date at one time or another and have never had to send one back for any problem.
I'd love to see any offical document/article related to these user's that have had abit problems because i've never seen any !!!!!
But I'll alwas go with what ever MoBo thats best at the time.

I had a BE6 that I had to RMA twice. But I still go back for more. Somehow Abit seems like a good choice to me. I recently bought an ASUS because they didnt have an Abit at the show and it has been pretty good too. There is one thing that irks me though. On the ASUS occasionally if you disconnect the power cable, it forgets the cpu settings. Not all the time, but just enough to annoy me.

Just out of curiousity, would you consider other brands (Epox, Iwill?)

Also why do you want a KT133a? Because you have old SDRam to use?, price?

I've had a ASUS PB2 previously, and that worked without a flaw, I've got the ABIT KT7A, and whilst it's a good board you must consider a few things. I recommend using Paul Unofficial FAQ site for the board first, graphic card probs, sound card issues, which are BIOS fixable. One of the main ones which annoys me is(perhaps as I'm running RAID0, the initial boot power draw is too much for 300W)that the V7700 doesn't kick in on boot up which requires a reboot. I've overcome this by putting 2 sec boot delay on the IDE channel in the BIOS. Outside of that it runs perfectly. Really you need to read as many independant reviews you can, to see if the M/B offers the bells and whistles you want, then check their FAQ sites as well.

I love my KT7-RAID and BF6 (both Abit). Asus makes great boards as well, as does Iwill. I personally haven't had good exepriences with MSI, but your experiences may vary :) In general, all motherboard manufacturer's are going to have flaws in certain motherboards -- and almost all do a great job at fixing problems on the spot with BIOS updates. As long as you stay away from the really cheap motherboards (such as PCChips) you should be fine. Abit, Asus, EPoX, or Iwill, in my opinion have the most feature rich boards as of right now and I would buy any of them if I like the specs they offer.

I tend to favor Asus. They seem to be faster and stable. I have built many athlon systems with abit boards and generally I have had more problems with Heatsinks on the Abit boards. However both boards would be a good choice.

I've used the Abit BH-6, BE-6, BM-6, KA7. All with very few problems.

I just got my firs Asus (A7V133) board and haven't had any problems with it.

"Should I get the Asus or the Abit?"

Both manufacturers make great products. Abit seems to have a slightly higher RMA rate (or just more people complaining about it) then Asus but they also seems to have more/better features and software (temp monitoring, etc...)

"I am in the market for a KT-133A or E board."

Have you considered waiting for a nForce based board?

Check out that round up. Asus A7v133 was one of the overall winners (the other being the iwill board). Abit consistantly trails in benchmarks for the VIA133 boards, so there's no real reason to go with them now, especially because other manufacturers are offering on board RAID.

Boy, I bet that last sentence gets me flamed. I've owned abit boards before! Don't hate me because I use asus :p

Reason for an Abit board is the ability to overclock with ease. Asus boards you can overclock, but not as easy. For the AMD's I am not sure, for I have not gone to the TB K7's yet.

I have never gotten an RMA Abit Board. I'm an Abit fan myself. But I love Asus boards as well. The very first BH6 overclocking that celeron 300a. Then the same board overclocked the celeron 566. How can you not love a company that can make a board that does that?
