I've heard that Asus has a utility that checks the temps of its video cards. Is this true? What's it called?

Also, with Smart Doctor, what is "Dynamic Overclocking?"

dynamic o/c adjustes the clockspeed of your card to match heavier work loads. i am too scared to try it. I think asus probe will show you temps of video card? I cant really use it cause i am running reference drivers and not asus drivers. but it does work on my asus mobo.

Did you get the Asus card that you were talking about before this??

Indeed I did. It's rock solid right now at 290MHz core and 620MHz RAM. I'm maxed out on the Smart Doctor utility, so I have to find something different. Any ideas?

I paid $139.99 for it at Newegg.com. I just finished a full run of 3DMark 2001 at 300MHz core and 620MHz RAM and there's not a hint of artifacts on the screen. In case you didn't know, a Ti4600 runs at 300/600, so I'm running FASTER than a Ti4600 for almost 1/2 the price. And I'm not done yet. I LOVE OVERCLOCKING!!!

Newegg has those for refurbs at 100 bucks a few days ago. Don't know how good are they though. :( Feel like upgrading from my 8500 but not sure if it's worth the few bucks spent.

I don't know, but I just ran an artifact-free 3DMark at 320/635. This is with STOCK COOLING! This card is incredible. Let me just be clear that I never get results like this from overclocking, so this is just amazing to me.

EDIT: At 325/635 with stock cooling I finally had an error. So I set things back to 320/635, and my current 3DMark score is 13269, which is over 1,000 points over what I started at (at 260/550).

My Asus V8420S is running 335/655... the Asus drivers suck. I tried them, went back to the 44.03's from nVidia. The V8420S was also $140 =)

Do you have stock cooling on it? I got my core to 320MHz without problems, but 3DMark locked up at 325. I'm at 650MHz right now (again, no cooling on the RAM) and I'm going higher. Nice OC'er, though, regardless.

I'm now at 320MHz core (same as before) and 690MHz on the RAM!!! Coolbits is maxed out!!! Incredible. Wait til I put the Iceberq 4 Pro and Tweakmonster BGA-sinks on it. Sweet...

UPDATE: I put on the Iceberq 4 and one side of Tweakmonsters on, but I'm going to do the other side tomorrow night, and I'm going to let my AS Ceramic settle in a little (I know the temps probably won't go down, but this is how I work, OK?). Tomorrow night, I'll see if I can get the core up any higher since I moved away from stock cooling. My initial score with 3DMark 2001 was 12231 (at 260/550), and I'm now up to 13530. Incredible for a $140 card!

This is too sweet. I ran that card through 3DMark all night last night and it's rock solid. I checked it again and it came in at about 13,450 3DMarks. I've watched that benchmark so many times now, I can tell you everything about it. It's one thing to run it and leave the room to benchmark, but when you're looking for artifacts and tearing, that's a whole other story.
