Okay. After months of researching I've finally narrowed down my new monitor to the VH238H which has GREAT reviews and the VS238H-p which is supposeldy newer and does not have as great reviews. I know that the VH236H is used in gaming competitions and the only difference between it and the VH238H is that the 238H is an LED. I can't see any differences between them except that the pixel pitch is better on the VH238H. That would make me get it but I've read that the VS series is newer. They are both amazing with same contrast ratios (which hardly matter) 2ms response time, and LED. It is just very infuriating because they are basically the same! I can't seem to find any thing comparing them except one post saying that the VH238H is better but it provides no facts. So is one obviously better than the other?

Also, both of them on Newegg are the same price originally ($200) but they are cut down and the VH is slightly more expensive. I'm really on the edge about it. I was about to get the VH because of it's very slightly better pixel pitch but then I saw that the VS series is newer. Does that just mean it looks different. Is the VS more slick? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance !.

Specs

Sapphire HD 7970 OC with Boost

Here's the specs of the 2 monitors from Asus's website.

The VS has no speakers, has full HD 1080P, brightness(max): 250 cd/㎡, ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio (ASCR) : 50000000:1; misprint, too many zeroes???

The VH has speakers, brightness(max): 300 cd/㎡, Contrast Ratio (Max.): 20000 :1 (ASCR)

They are also different in physical appearance.

My son is a big gamer. I got him the Asus VS247H-P monitor for Christmas. So far, for gaming, he's very pleased with it; and it's cheaper than the 23" models.

I have the VS238H-P that I bought a few months back and I have been extremely pleased with it. Really can't think of any negatives to speak of.

Thank you Rottencurry for starting this thread and thank you to MadScientist for your great response..
I too have been searching for a good monitor to suit my gaming needs and have been going crazy trying to find the best one that isn't very expensive.

The VS247H-P that MadScientist mentioned is on sale right now on NewEgg for cheaper than the 23 inch models with a 30$ off promo code through the 13th of January.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824236174
I believe the code makes it 159$ vs 175-179$ for the 23 inch screens.

I am going with the vs247h-p because I don't want speakers in a monitor and i will gladly take the extra inch of real estate, especially for 20 bucks less.

Cheers!

are your colors being washed out? I found that having it on the default image preset or the gaming preset ruined the image, I keep mine on scenery and it looks great.

The colors on the asus vh236h are better than my sony bravia's 1080p screen and my asus g75 laptop's screen, so imo good colors are attainable with this display.

The price for the VS247H-P is $139.99 after the rebate and applying the code. It's the same price at Amazon. I ordered it from Amazon because we live in TN and Newegg charges sales tax. I could also use any Discover cashback I have to further lower the price. Discover is also giving 5% cashback on all online purchases in December.
