I am starting to notice weird artifacts in my VH236H. I guess I noticed them from the start but it was an improvement over the Asus monitor I replaced it with so I didn't care.

But I can clearly see a gradient type pattern on certain types of motion in video games. I find it hard to believe that I would get 2 lemons in a row from Asus but I seriously cannot believe that these monitors are so highly reviewed on Newegg when I have clearly gotten 2 monitors in a row from Asus that have significant issues compromising the image quality.

The artifact is clearly visible when I grab the scrollbar in my web browser (IE). When I drag it up and down, the black line on the bottom and top of the scrollbar (the short horizonal line that forms the block of the scrollbar) i can see little black pixels dancing around when I move that around.

And I see the same effect heavy in Diablo 3 and Left 4 Dead 2. Looks like I am going to have to avoid Asus monitors entirely, I just can't believe nearly Asus monitor has a 5 star average on Newegg.

Are people really that easy to please? Do they just plug the monitor in and if it shows ANY picture they give it 5 stars? Maybe I am being anal about this, but my laptop and my old Dell monitor from 2005 don't show any of this crap.

Color me dissapointed.

The effect makes it look like the pixels are magnified or something, under certain types of motion.

It makes the pixels clearly visible when they should not be, and when the motion stops, the pixels dissapear and the object becomes smooth again. And then when I start to pan the camera, the pixels start to show up again.

Its like a heavy screen door effect, makes the pixels seem 2-4x bigger than they should be. Makes it all grainy/pixely in certain kinds of motion!

Please tell me somebody else has seen this effect before, I feel I am going insane.

Well when u asked about monitors u got suggestions.. And is a cheapo panel and for a reason... now you see why.. another 100$ could of put you into a 2560x1440 IPS panel which would have blown you eyes away..

And yes you could have ran it at 1080i if you liked.

what is interesting is that the viewing angles are actually extremely good, identical to my ips-alpha panel Panasonic HDTV, and much better than the screen on my Thinkpad T500. there is actually no loss in brightness, contrast or color saturation when viewed from any angle. I wonder if they switched the type of panel they are using recently.

either way the dithering artifacts which I believe are due to Temporal Dithering are extremely distracting.

not sure if im going to keep this one either :\

I wonder how many monitors I will go through before I find a keeper.
