I'm running Windows 7 RC 64 bit with a Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 512MB, which has DVI and VGA ports. I've successfully used either output to drive an LG L204WT monitor. I just purchased an ASUS VH226H. When I hook the ASUS up to the DVI port, it displays as Windows boots up, but but when Windows gets to displaying the desktop, it goes black and says "No DVI signal". The ASUS comes up fine on the VGA port. Does anyone have any thoughts as to why the ASUS won't run on the DVI port?

Try DVI to HDMI cable (or adaptor)see if that works on HDMI port of monitor, possible you got a faulty DVI port.

Wait, if it displays at Windows boot up but then goes black it sounds like a driver problem, not a hardware problem. Try uninstalling your ATI drivers and then going through a complete Windows start. If you've still got a signal using the default Windows driver, then the problem is clearly not hardware.

I forgot it shows at bootup, another suggestion is try it in safe mode and see if it displays at desktop if so then then 99% driver issue.

I have the same monitor and DVI works just fine on my QuadroFX 5800. If it displays fine on an NVIDIA graphics card with strict EDID timings, it should work fine on an ATI card with loose timings. Either driver bug or some hardware problem.

Don't ask me why, but... I went to the Sapphire site and installed the latest driver. After reboot, the ASUS via DVI still did not work. I went away and did some things, came back to the computer, and - what the??? - the display was on. I have no idea what I might have done between not working and working. I suspect it's a Windows 7 / display driver quirk. Anyway, its working....for now.
