So I got this card from newegg and and thought it would be a smooth install. I installed it along with a new power supply Pure power 560 and all is well with power. With the manuel it says to install the windows Standard DisplayAdapter (VGA) but its not in there. Just all my FX5600 drivers. When I fire up with the 5950, nothing.....put back my eVGA FX5600 and I'm booting and running. I'm deathly afraid to uninstall the drivers for that card in fear of never seeing a screen again. What should I do good people.

Thanks

Your going to have to uninstall your old drivers. You didn't have display drivers when you first installed windows did you? Windows will beable use default drivers to atleast get a display up. You should run drive cleaner too just to be sure everythings gone from your old card although I don't know if it's important when going nvidia to nvidia.

Welp, cleared all the drivers and uninstalled all the Nvidia stuff, nada! Does not boot into windows. I no longer have display adapters in the control panel. I have that funky weak windows screen look with my 5600 in and running, from the generic driver I think. Do you think I might actually have a bad card? I hope there is a solution.

maaannn......

No ..Brand spanking new! Is this something that is typical of defective cards? I don't even get into post, the computer just starts up and sits there on idle.

are you sure you hooked up the additional power connector?
If so, then I think your board was DOA. It should AT LEAST post.

yep, and even switched a couple around to double check. Now what, send it back to NewEgg via RMA.:|

Do you think they will let me switch to different cards? dang...should I start a thread in the tech area?

Can It possibly be Windows needs to be activated again? That needs to be done now with all my card switching and prior upgrades. I have three days, then what happens? Geez
