ASUS V7700 BIG TROUBLE!

Wow, I've been running the V7700 Pure 32MB since October, and OK with all det drivers up to 12.60 (ASUS's). But the other day, all of a sudden the screen refreshes start "stepping" slowly, and last night I look at the Clock Rate in Display...Properties...etc.,and find numbers at around 83 MHz!!

So I reboot (98SE), and UGH, crashes/freezes on a corrupted desktop! Switch to generic VGA, OK. Back to 12.60, no good. Try 6.50, 10.40, same probs. Now I'm back to generic VGA, and no idea what's wrong.

Any suggestions, other than RMA this card?

Thx Zach, but the monitor is good to 1600x1200 at 65-70, recommended at 1280x1024 85 Hz.

Really wierd is that I can get the rig running using either the generic VGA driver or any of the Dets BUT ONLY AT 640x480 16 Color!!!

As soon as I raise resolution or color depth, it hangs on a corrupted desktop. If I'd just built this rig, I'd say driver probs, but the existing VIA and the different NVidia drivers (5.31 to 12.60) I have tried all worked OK til yesterday.

And display settings won't allow me to select any of the higher res./color combos I have been using with any driver set (like it cuts me off at 1024x768x256colors) either generic or any NVidia driver!

I'm really stumped...
