just wondering... what kinda fps should i expect with this card @ 800x600? i toggled between opengl and d3d, and d3d is crap. under opengl, i get around 80fps if i am staring at a wall... but in normal play i would say i average about 40fps... but i do see it dip to the mid 20's from time to time. is that normal?

BTW, here are the basic specs of the rig:

800mhz tbird
ecs k7s5a
256mb pc100
asus v6800

comments? bumps? donations?!?!

I had the exact same card in system running a T-bird with a 10x150MHz ratio, and the card mildly overclocked. I never benched it, but I was a CS fanatic at the time. At 1024x768 32bit , OpenGL I never really had any slowdowns. 20fps you can tell even by the seat of your pants because that's when things get pretty stuttery.

D3D sucks, and I would never use that. I think I was using the 6.38 (6.68?) Drivers, can't remember.
But I can remember that the card died on me right in the middle of an awesome CS game one evening.

you have a card that's still better than most GF2 MX models out there, including some MX400... you should make sure it has plenty of power, and you're set - although it won't do 90 fps in 1024x768x32, it'll still be pretty good as long as you use 16-bit colour.
