ASUS TX97-E latest BIOS

Just wanted to ask if anybody knows which one of the two BIOS codes is the latest? "1001e" or "0112e"?
Some say 0112e, but if so, why is the numbering so misleading?

0112E (beta 001) is an APM BIOS.

1001E (if you can find it), is an ACPI BIOS.

Although an ACPI BIOS is better for Win2K and WinXP, an early revision such as 1001E is probably not a good idea. Early ACPI BIOSes for all ASUS boards feature COM port problems under Win2K/WinXP and have a few other minor problems.

It means that 0112e is an older BIOS with APM. As I understand, 1001e was written later and includes ACPI, but has problems with win2K and WinXP?

Hm... I'm using 1001e on my board. It recognises K6-2+ at least as an AMD cpu with correct 500MHz speed, when 0112e does not. I was thinking flashing my BIOS with 0112e BIOS modified by Jan Steunebrink http://web.inter.nl.net/hcc/J.Steunebrink/k6plus.htm to enable all K6-2+ features like Data Prefetch, Speculative Write Ordering, Write Allocation...

Is it woth it?

What would you do on my place? (of course if something goes wrong I won't hold you responsible for anything )

I would appreciate advice on this matter

The ACPI BIOS is newer....I would use that one up until I ran into problems under Win2K/WinXP. The problems regarding the early ACPI BIOSes showed up with the P2L97 and P2B families.....I don't have any information regarding the TX-97 family.
