Anybody out there know how to use AMD K6-III 500 in the ASUS TX97 or HX97 motherboard? I want to overclock from 500 to 600 Mhz.
I need the information regarding the jumper for CPU Voltage 2 volt and FSB of 100 Mhz. Is that possible?
I know that 500 Mhz is not a problem for TX97 board, because TX97 capable for 83 Mhz FSB, but how about 100 Mhz FSB? Please help??!??

The TX97 series of boards do not support 100MHz FSB, and neither does the HX97. The maximum FSBs availabele on both boards is 83MHz. Both are based on Intel chipsets; there is no socket 7 Intel chipset that supports a 100MHz FSB.

To run a K6-3 500, you would probably need to run it at 6 x 83. Set the multiplier jumpers to 2, as this will remap to 6 internally on the processor.

The jumper settings for voltage can be found either at the bottom of this page for the TX97 or printed directly on the motherboard itself.

I highly recommend that you upgrade the BIOS to version 0112 Beta 001 to support the K6-3 processor.

The HX97 board is an OEM only board: no information for this board is available on the ASUS websites, nor does ASUS provide BIOS updates.
