Hi peeps,
I'm in the process of RMAing a 4090FE because of constant black screen crashes/freezes. It seems likely the card is at fault as a 2070 works flawlessly in the same system, but want to check with the PSU-knowing peeps on this forum about my setup and if the PSU could be at fault (i know any PSU could be a dud unit, but I'm interested in if the actual spec should work with a 4090)
Here's my PSU - https://www.asus.com/uk/motherboards-components/power-supply-units/tuf-gaming/tuf-gaming-1000g/
I've tried the included 600w pci-e 5 cable, a 3xPCI-E to 1x 600w connector cable and the nvidia adaptor that came with the card. Although the nvidia adaptor seemed to provide the longest stability (30-60mins), it still failed. It would crash on windows desktop weirdly, not during 3d stress tests - and sometimes also crash during CPU stress tests.
My knowledge of the intricacies of PSUs is very limited so wanted to check with you guys if the TUF 1000w Gaming Gold PSU should run the card fine. The term "ATX 3 Compatible" makes me think it's using some pre-final spec for the 600w cable and it's a marketing trick to hide that fact? CPU it was tested with was a 3950x, though it will be used in a 7950x system in the future.
Any help is much appreciated!
